Ceramic jug by Ferdinand Gerbing. 1820 - 1880

Ferdinand Gerbing's ceramics workshop was located in Bodenbach, Germany (now the Czech Republic). Ferdinand Gerbing (1798-1848) was a successful German manufacturer of highly refined ceramics in the neoclassical style. When he died, he left the business to his partner Wilhelm Schiller and his wife Karoline. After Schiller opened his own factory elsewhere two years later, Karoline continued to run the workshop.
